    HealthFrame vs. PHR

Could you tell me what the difference is between HealthFrame and PHR for a family looking to just keep documentation of their family medical information ?  Is HealthFrame just a process to get information electronically ?

    Re: HealthFrame vs. PHR

    Lee,

Welcome to the HealthFrame User's Community Forum!

HealthFrame is a software implementation of a personal health record (PHR) system.  There are a number of different types of PHR implementations including paper records and software programs.

While HealthFrame supports getting electronic copies of a family's clinical records, that is not the purpose, but rather the means to an end.

HealthFrame users do not simply collect their health data, they actively use their data to help them make informed decisions about their overall health management.  The types of activities that HealthFrame facilitiates are very broad and include:
    • Trend analysis - graphs make it easier to figure out trends such as weight gain/loss, blood glucose management, blood pressure maintenance, etc.  Additionally, you can create your own graphs, where you show how certain aspects of your health are impacting others: are your weight changes correlated to better eating habits that are improving your cholesterol levels?
    • Access to educational information - convenient access to trusted information on your medical conditions, treatments, etc.   HealthFrame makes it easy for you to find key reference information: you don't even have to 'search' - the information you need, one click away.
    • Privacy management - certain individuals and families share portions of their medical records while omiting certain aspects of their health care history.  With HealthFrame, you can customize different views into your health record, without you having to retype or copy and paste your medical information.  Simply create and save customizations of your health reports and control the level of detail that is shared with an employer vs. insurance vs. health care provider.
    • Expense management - keep track of your medical expenses including receipts together with your medical records.  A lot of families are managing their medical expenses more directly because of health savings accounts (HSA) or other consumer-directed health care plans.  Being able to track and contrast your costs with national and local statistics is important when your family is more directly involved on your health care financial investments.

We hope this list helps, but nothing beats trying it for yourself.  We encourage prospective users to download HealthFrame and see for themselves the benefits of using HealthFrame for their family's healthcare management: http://www.recordsforliving.com/HealthFrame/Demo/Request.aspx
