    General Questions about your product

    I'm seriously considering buying your software...not interested in the 15 day trial (can't tell enough in that period of time).  I'm a long-time QMEM (Quicken Medical Expense Manager) customer - or better, a lapsed QMEM customer.  I got too frustrated with it's limitations.  Your product looks nice & a few QMEM forum posters mentioned it for the medical "history" portion not the financial/expense.  I personally feel it all goes together.  I like that your product does combine a true medical history with expenses.  I have good insurance but high out of pocket costs plus things that aren't covered.  So....it's time to keep better track of things, esp. for tax purposes.  I can't keep up with 2 software programs.... please be honest, we don't have the $$ to throw away. 
    • How does your expense tracker compare to QMEM? 
    • Do customers with high expenses buy both (QMEM is probably not going to be upgraded again) & use your product for history?
    • Does your service keep a "phone book" of sorts for services, therapists, MD's, retailers (for rx, otc), etc?
    • Does your RX section allow info beyond the rx name?  Do we have the ability to assign by person, dosage, refills & note side affects & dose changes prescribed by the dr?  (QMEM does not allow this)
    • Can reports be downloaded into Excel or CSV files?
    • Can EOB's or other documents be scanned into the software?

    • We do not have a feature comparison between HealthFrame and QMEM.  Let me try and give you some idea of what HealthFrame has to offer, much of which is a unique benefit of using HealthFrame.
    HealthFrame is designed to help you better track, understand and manage your health: all aspects of your health; including medical expenses.  Since supporting all aspects of your health is a very ambitious goal, we have created a product that is both extensible and that integrates well with others.  This is a strategy that allows us to continually improve HealthFrame, over time, but also gives our customers the ability to use all tools available at their disposal, should they have needs that aren't immediately supported by HealthFrame.

    An example of how we have made HealthFrame extensible, is our support for OpenHealth Service Plug-ins.  In a nutshell, plug-ins allow us to develop solutions for our users that can be added-on to HealthFrame, as needed.  Here are a couple of examples of plug-ins that were implemented in response to requests posted in this forum (including pictures that should help you with look and feel of the product):

    I'll answer our ability to integrate with other products below - in response to your question about CSV (comma separated value) file support.

    • We have not conducted a formal survey of what tools our customers use in conjunction with HealthFrame.  You can see from our forum that some of our users are invididuals with  a great deal of health-related expense management, who use HealthFrame for expense management.
    It should be noted that many of our users tend to use a number of tools, especially office type tools they have grown accustomed to, over the years (e.g. word processing, spreadsheets, etc).  I do not recall a user having purchased a tool as a consequence of using HealthFrame, but rather, it is natural for people to use the tools they already have and that they're accustomed to...  A common example is the use of spreadsheets and HealthFrame.

    Does any user on the forum want to comment on their experience?

    • With HealthFrame you can track contact information for your medical service providers (doctors, specialists, etc).   Here's the contact information you can track, for each of your individual health care service providers:
      • Name
      • Telephone number(s)
      • Email
      • Location(s)
      • Association with medical organizations (e.g. hospitals, pharmacies, etc)
      • Role (e.g. Primary care provider, pediatrician, cardiologist, etc)
      • Miscellaneous notes

    • I have attached at the bottom of this reply an image of our prescription (medication) page.  Please note that in addition to the medication name we allow you to enter/access:
      • Start/end dates
      • Dosage
      • Frequency
      • Route (oral, external use, intravenous, etc)
      • Prescription #
      • # of refills
      • Instructions
      • Prescribing doctor
      • Notes
      • Reason for discontinuing (if any)
      • Links to related medical information (co-pay, conditions, treatments, etc)
      • Reference library look-up

    • Plug-ins allow HealthFrame to interact with other programs, for instance by creating formats that other programs can understand (e.g. CSV files).  Please note, for instance, that we already have a plug-in that allows HealthFrame to export medical expenses in a CSV format: http://community.recordsforliving.com/forums/thread/540.aspx
    Another example of where HealthFrame produces exportable data extracts is our user-defined graph support.  Using our user-defined graph, you can export data into text format that can be imported into spreadsheets.

    Finally, HealthFrame supports XML-based industry standards (e.g. ASTM Continuity of Care Record - CCR) that can be used to integrate with XML-aware products as well as CCR-enabled products such as electronic health records (doctor's tools).
    • Any electronic document (scanned or otherwise generated) can be either attached to HealthFrame (i.e. becomes an integral part of your medical record) or referenced/linked to a file in your hard disk (this is useful if you want to manage your disk storage on your own, while keeping your personal health record small).
    An advantage of maintaining your scanned documents in HealthFrame, includes our ability to exchange those attachments with some programs or external devices (e.g. USB drives you can carry with you or iPods).

    In addition to the Support Team response. . .HealthFrame has a GREAT Support TeamBig Smile [:D] They are quick to respond to all posts, take user suggestions seriously, are quick to respond to add-in needs, etc. I don't know anything about QMEM or the support they offer. But, what I can tell you, after all the technical support questions I have had on all of the programs I work in, I have to say that THIS Support Team is the BEST!  I wish all the other "support teams" were so responsive!  Paradise [ip]
