Additional phone field in provider records

It would be handy to have another field to record a phone number in Provider records. For example, I have a work number and a home number for my primary care doctor. It would b nice if I could also record a FAX number while still retaining the other two. If all individual providers had an organization the FAX could be recorded there. There's only one phone number field for organizations. My doctor's offices are a bit behind the times. My cardiologist reads recorded angiograms on CD's but he has no email address and doesn't want one. Others are just as behind, but their patient records are filled with redundant and outdated paper records.

    William,

Unless I misunderstood what you're requesting, HealthFrame already supports multiple phone numbers in the Provider Records.

Please look at the image below and note the + signs within the red circles. Throughout HealthFrame the + signs are used where you can add multiple elements of a particular information type.

Thanks for the feedback. We agree there is a lot of variation among physicians' offices in their adoption of computers, email, etc. We look forward to current trends taking effect, and improving electronic data exchanges with doctors' systems.

Re: Additional phone field in provider records

Sorry to be so stupid! I never noticed the + and x to the right of the fields in provider screens. That's a great feature. I have used that feature in other areas but for some reason I usually thought of it as adding links, etc. versus adding fields. Kudos to the developer who worked that out.

I visited my primary doctor yesterday and had to update him on what had been going on with 3 specialists I have been seeing recently. I mentioned to him that my cardiologist was concerned because he, my primary physcian, had changed my anti-cholesterol med without notifying him. My primary physcian said that most physcians are so busy that it is difficult for them to confer by phone and sometimes written info does not get exchanged. I thought of your software and how things could be in the future with all providers linked together. Maybe the patient could be the focus of the record system and each provider could supply medical info to a central site on the web, the patient's consolidated record. Each provider would then know what the other had done and the record would always be up to date. As it stands now, the patient is not the focus and many mistakes are made. Doctors don't read their records right before seeing their patients and therefore, don't know the essential info they need to treat the patient. I could go on and on, but you don't want to hear.

    Thanks for your prompt reply.
