HealthFrame is designed to support an individual's personal management of his/her health, consolidating and then using information obtained from multiple health care providers such as primary care physicians, specialists, nurses, labs, etc. This type of information transcends national boundaries and includes information such as your medications, conditions, allergies, treatments, hospitalizations, etc. Additionally, HealthFrame is implemented based on a number of international standards, e.g. ASTM Continuity of Care Record, ICD-9, etc.
HealthFrame is not limited to the collection of health data, but rather provides a number of health references and services. These services cover a wide range of health-related topics including expense management, tax preparation aid, support for Consumer Directed Health Care (CDHC) patients, e.g. Health Savings Accounts (HSA) participants. Some of these services may tend to be more 'localized', for instance:
- HealthFrame's built-in Library includes accredited statistical medical outcomes information (conditions/treatments) such as mortality rate, gender and age distribution, mean length of hospital stay, etc. This information is collected and published by the US Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) and is obviously pertinent to patients who receive medical care in the United States.
- The Library additionally has AHRQ-produced information on the cost of treatments (again, for patients who receive medical care in the United States)
- HealthFrame supports an extensible plug-in framework (http://www.recordsforliving.com/OpenHealthServices/ServiceDirectory.aspx) some of which are more US-applicable, e.g. 2006 IRS Mileage Deductions. You should note these are "plug-ins" and Canadian customers should feel free to request Canadian-appropriate plug-ins (typically requested at the HealthFrame Community Site).
It should also be pointed out that we do not at this point have a French version of HealthFrame, though we have gone to some lengths to support non-US settings, e.g. support of metric system for test results.
We do have a significant percentage of Canadian users, and do not believe that the software needs to 'change' to support an individual's needs (maybe some of our international users may want to 'pitch in' at this point in the discussion? :-)
We are always open to create custom versions of HealthFrame that can be distributed in the context of specific partnerships.
