    Re: Cholesterol

    Larry,

"Cholesterol" per se is not a condition.  Rather it is a substance that can be found in your blood (http://www.americanheart.org/presenter.jhtml?identifier=512).

There are a number of conditions that may be caused by cholesterol.  In HealthFrame, if you type 'cholesterol' in the 'Type' field and then click on the button to the right, you'll note a number of possible conditions.  (See attached screen shot).

For maximal listing, please set your choices to indicate "Contains" "Any String" "cholesterol". You can browse the listing on the right and check the details, including browsing Medline Plus for further information.

If for instance, you have a problem with high cholesterol (LDL), then maybe Hypercholesterolemia is the condition you're looking for.  It's best, of course, to check with your provider to make sure.

Please note that even if you can't find an exact match for the condition you are looking for, you can enter any text you feel comfortable being representative of your condition.  If you simply want to add 'cholesterol' in the condition type, HealthFrame will allow you to do that - your doctor(s) will be able to figure out from that information and from talking to you further, the clinical details they need.

If you'd like to track your cholesterol numbers (blood test results), please go to the Tests area and enter "Blood Lipids Panel" for the test type.  Then you can enter the cholesterol numbers for HDL, LDL, Total cholesterol and Triglycerides from your lab results.

Once you have entered values for your cholesterol numbers, you can graph them too, by going to the Repord > Graphs > Blood Lipids Graph.

Please let us know if we can be of further help.
