The current release of HealthFrame does not support sync'ing with Microsoft Outlook. We've had some interesting discussions in this forum on some of the difficulties of supporting a generic appointment synchronization mechanism.

In particular, with HealthFrame you don't have appointments per se, but 'events', which can be medical visits, tests, treatments, etc. If you were to create an appointent in Outlook and then try to import it into HealthFrame, we'd have to specify a mechanism whereby you could specify which type of event was scheduled.

Exporting from HealthFrame into Microsoft Outlook may be simpler and potentially something that we can request from the development team - even perhaps as an OpenHealth Service (OHS) plug-in. (HealthFrame supports an extensibility mechanism known as OHS plug-ins which allow new functionality to be added to HealthFrame, post product installation - we have a number of examples in the forum and on our website: http://www.recordsforliving.com/OpenHealthServices/ServiceDirectory.aspx).

2. The HealthFrame Family Edition license allows you to install HealthFrame on all 'household' computers - inluding your laptops.

You can export/import personal health records (PHRs) from one machine to another. When you import, HealthFrame will attempt to merge the information into your computer's PHR. Merge algorithms are prone to limitations - users of personal finance management software such as Intuit's Quicken or Microsof Money are familiar with the 'reconciliation' process that typically follows importing a bank statement, etc.

You should consider experimenting with the process yourself and figure out if the system behaves in a way you find adequate.

3. HealthFrame supports web services and in particular, we support the Commons eXchange Protocol (CXP) which allows us to exchange PHRs with internet-hosted partner web sites, such as MedCommons. There have been a few threads in this forum on CXP and MedCommons and HealthFrame's ability to upload/download PHR data: http://community.recordsforliving.com/forums/thread/744.aspx and http://community.recordsforliving.com/forums/post/809.aspx

A unique aspect of HealthFrame's support is that exchange of your clinical record information is ENTIRELY under your control. You choose who you exchange data with AND the specific subset of your heath record that you want exported. This is true of hosting your records online too. This allows you to maintain multiple versions of your clinical record, depending on your target audience: provider vs. insurance vs. employer, etc.

4. As I mentioned earlier, you can install HealthFrame in all your household computers.

5. We have additional information on HealthFrame and HIPAA support in this forum thread: http://community.recordsforliving.com/forums/thread/747.aspx

Don't forget that you can experiment with HealthFrame by downloading our 15-day demo: http://www.recordsforliving.com/HealthFrame/Demo/Request.aspx

You can use the built-in sample PHRs to try HealthFrame, without having to enter your own data into the program.

Please let us know if we can be of further help or if you have suggestions for how we can continue to improve HealthFrame.

Thanks,
Support Team

Questions about HealthFrame

I'm very interested in your product but have a few questions if you don't
mind-

Is the calendar in
your program able to "sync" with Outlook's calendar?

If I download the
program, can it be loaded on multiple pc's ? Both my wife and I carry laptop
pc's. Can updates be "sync'd" with one another?

Can the files be
uploaded to an online PHR source?

If a new PC is
purchased, will I be able to re-install the program?

Does the program
 contain HIPPA releases for California?

We would like to
start this ASAP, so a rapid response would be greatly appreciated. With
our busy schedules, you can see how much we need to keep
these records maintained
and current. Not just to memory.

Thank
You
