These are great usability suggestions. I have forwarded them to our development team, with the additional suggestion that additional opportunities for setting the 'focus'/cursor to the most likely data entry field.

Test… after clicking ‘Add New’, consider programming the cursor to be flashing in the Item Name entry box. In addition to this example there are other actions in HFE that might be reviewed as well - like Calendar>Add New>Other.
